Incorporating Green into your Interiors

Interior design colour trends are heavily influenced by fashion trends. In fact, most interior design trends including colour, material and finish also rely on fashion trends that have trickled down from the fashion capital of the world.

But it seems that green is the go-to trend: olive, chartreuse, fern, you name it.

The different shades of green allow you to use the hue for a calming or an energising effect in any room as a wall colour, furniture colour or pop of brightness in accessories. From an emerald green kitchen to a plant-filled oasis and sage green powder room, there's a palette anchored by green decor for everyone.

Real Green

If you're not big into using bright colours in your home, maintain the neutral colour scheme and then incorporate a natural pop of green with a wall gallery of house plants.

Chartreuse Green

In its lighter, softer form chartreuse makes a great wall colour for earthy, nature-inspired rooms. In its boldest, brightest form it is as eye catching as neon.

Olive Green

An olive green couch can be a difficult item to decorate around, especially if you have a small room and already have other pieces of furniture to work into your decorating scheme. Use complementary paint colours in the room like tan, sand and cream; avoid dark colours like brown and black and, add a few green plants will balance out some of the dark colours.

Emerald Green

Decorating with emerald green is a great way to make a bold statement in your room. You can decorate with emerald green sofas, chairs, pillows, artwork, rugs, and/or decorative items to make a statement and show your personality, in an otherwise neutral room.

Fern Green

The beauty of fern green is you can decorate with it year round. To transition from fall and winter into spring, pair the colour with aqua and peach. To keep the overall look layered, introduce some dark wood tones and be sure to layer several shades and tints of these hues to add depth.

Jungle Green

Jungle green, despite its wild name, is a soft yet elegant tone of spring green that contains blue tints. When you pair jungle green with white marble and gold accents, you can create a space that is clean yet sophisticated and that speaks volumes about your sense of style. Consider using this colour and material combination in your kitchen or bathroom.
